Work Work Work

Well... as you could probably guess by the title of my post I have been busy. Apparently too busy to get on here every once in a while to say hi.

News: I am in the process of making over one of my spare bedrooms downstairs at my new place and I would like to post the before and after pics once it is done. I'm also going to post some pictures showing how I created certain aspects of the room. It's turning out really great so far and I've just found a fabric to do the curtains and closet... as well as an accent pillow so I'm really excited! Can't wait to show you guys.

MTV Movie Awards Summary and Comments

So... if you're super cool like me you wasted 2 hours of your life watching the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday and then were extremely disappointed when Twilight won for EVERYTHING. Seriously, I get it, it's a popular movie... and don't get me wrong, I've read the books and I like them but the Twilight: New Moon Movie was not that great... cheesiness was at an all time high in that movie.

So here's a recap of a bunch of the awards given out, who won, and who I THOUGHT should have won.

Best Movie

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
"Alice in Wonderland"
"Avatar"
"The Hangover"
"Harry Potter and the HalfBlood Prince"

Seriously... aside from the fact that Avatar was the highest grossing movie of all time, the effects were beyond awesome and the acting was top notch. Twilight on the other hand... effects were not bad this time around, but the acting as always needs a little work.

Best Male Performance

Robert Pattinson in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
Zac Efron in "17 Again"
Taylor Lautner in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
Daniel Radcliffe in "Harry Potter and the HalfBlood Prince"
Channing Tatum in "Dear John"

Okay this was a tough one... Robert Pattinson is a very good Edward Cullen although I would not say that he should have won out of all of these nominees. Zac Efron was hilarious in 17 Again and therefore I would give it to him on this one... with Daniel Radcliffe as a close second.

Best Female Performance

Kristen Stewart in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side"
Zoe Saldana in "Avatar"
Amanda Seyfried in "Dear John"
Emma Watson in "Harry Potter and the HalfBlood Prince"

SERIOUSLY???? Has anyone seen her in real life??? She's not acting. She is Bella... super awkward and clumsy. I thought after I had seen the first movie that she was a great actress and that the scene where she was just bitten and the venom is supposed to be going through her was great. Then I realized that everything else in the movie wasn't really acting, that's how she is in real life. So now she's type cast in my mind... always to play awkward and weird characters...
I have to go with Sandra Bullock on this one.

Breakthrough Performance

Anna Kendrick in "Up in the Air"
Quinton Aaron in "The Blind Side"
Zach Galifianakis in "The Hangover"
Logan Lerman in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief"
Chris Pine in "Star Trek"
Gabourey Sidibe in "Precious"

This one I didn't mind so much. Having not seen "Up in the Air" yet... or "Precious" I cannot really comment on this one too much. What I do know is that Zach Galifianakis did a great job in "The Hangover" and is now super famous because of it. That is what I call a breakout performance. This one I partially agree with though from the previews and trailers I've seen, Anna Kendrick did a great job in this movie.

Best Villain

Tom Felton in "Harry Potter and the HalfBlood Prince"
Helena Bonham Carter in "Alice in Wonderland"
Ken Jeong in "The Hangover"
Stephen Lang in "Avatar"
Christoph Waltz in "Inglourious Basterds"

This one was a toss up for me between Tom Felton and Stephen Lang but I'd have to give it to Tom Felton as he did a really good job in the 6th Harry Potter Movie.

Best Comedic Performance

Zach Galifianakis in "The Hangover"
Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal"
Bradley Cooper in "The Hangover"
Ryan Reynolds in "The Proposal"
Ben Stiller in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian"

Well deserved.

Best Kiss

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in "The Proposal"
Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington in "Avatar"
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in "The Runaways"
Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner in "Valentine's Day"

Brutal. Just brutal. Seriously? I got it the first time they kissed... it was supposed to be because there was a lot of suspense waiting for them to kiss... and it took so damn long... but this year's kiss from New Moon was tired. So boring... should not have won. Their acceptance speech was even more boring... ZzzzzZZZZzzzzz
I would have chosen Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds or Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner for this one for sure.

Best Fight

Beyoncé Knowles vs. Ali Larter in "Obsessed"
Robert Downey Jr. vs. Mark Strong in "Sherlock Holmes"
Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber vs. Ryan Reynolds in "XMen Origins: Wolverine"
Logan Lerman vs. Jake Abel in "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief"
Sam Worthington vs. Stephen Lang in "Avatar"

I gotta say... I would have gone with Wolverine/Sabertooth/DeadPool on this one... but this was a close call.

Best WTF Moment

Ken Jeong in "The Hangover"
Bill Murray in "Zombieland"
Betty White in "The Proposal"
Isabel Lucas in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"
Megan Fox in "Jennifer's Body"

I have to give this one to Bill Murray... I didn't see that one coming and it was definitely hilarious!

Best ScaredAsShit Performance

Amanda Seyfried in "Jennifer's Body"
Sharlto Copley in "District 9"
Jesse Eisenberg in "Zombieland"
Katie Featherston in "Paranormal Activity"
Alison Lohman in "Drag Me to Hell"

Although I never went to see Jennifer's Body... I doubt Amanda Seyfried's performance could have distracted me from Megan Fox's horrible acting for enough time for me to notice that she was scared. Either way I would have given it to Sharlto Copley as he did an amazing job in this movie that was sort of like a documentary and I was believing it by the end of it all.

Biggest Badass Star

Rain
Angelina Jolie
Chris Pine
Channing Tatum
Sam Worthington

No comment on this one... I'm not familiar with Rain... but I'm sure he's awesome.

Global Superstar

Robert Pattinson
Johnny Depp
Taylor Lautner
Daniel Radcliffe
Kristen Stewart

I would have gone for Johnny Depp on this one... he's been around way longer and has been in way more movies (ie more than three popular movies).

Well that's it... let me know if you agree or disagree by leaving a comment below. Also... if you're about to bash me for not wanting Twilight to win.. I must say, I do like the Twilight Books, the first movie was alright... but the second one just turned up the cheese a little too much for me that's all... I still went to see it and will most likely buy it as part of a set of all four movies whenever that comes out lol. I do like Twilight...

My little Orange Buddy

Hey Everyone!

Well... I came home from shopping two nights ago and as I pulled up into my driveway an orange tabby cat ran out of my garage. Apparently he had been chillin' in there for a little while. He was super friendly and he came for a walk with us so that we could ask the neighbours if he belonged to either of them. It turns out that he is a stray.

Apparently, according to one of our neighbours, people will just drop off their cats in the country if they don't want them anymore. This is disgusting to me. I can't believe that someone would have a pet and then just throw them away like that. You can tell that our little orange buddy was a house cat and didn't live outside his whole life because he knows to go outside to do his business and he's a very affectionate little guy. He can't stand not being around us when we're outside. My boyfriend made a little cat door so that he can come and go in the porch as he pleases so that he's got somewhere warm to sleep.

I went out and bought cat food yesterday (we fed him meatballs and leftover turkey the first night because we didn't have any cat food... no cat food will be good enough now lol) and a couple bowls from Dollarama so that he's got his own little food dishes in the porch area. He seems to like us so we're hoping that he sticks around and helps us out with the mice population in the spring/summer/fall seasons...

Above is a picture of him yesterday morning when I was leaving for work. He looks exactly like one of my parents' cats Oscar so we named him little OJ for Oscar Junior. (My boyfriend named him so I didn't really have a choice in the matter... I just call him little OJ lol)

He's such a nice little guy but my boyfriend is allergic so he can't come inside the house. He has to stay in the porch area so we are going to insulate it this summer so that he'll have somewhere warm to go in the winter. I just go out there and chill with him in the evenings and read or watch tv. We've got a tv hooked up out there and he loves the company. I feel bad when I have to leave him to go inside... I would love it if I could have him laying with me on the couch in my nice warm house. Oh well... he's used to being outside for a bit already so hopefully he's not wanting inside too bad.

When we wake up in the morning he's usually outside running around so he enjoys it enough. Plenty of little animals for him to hunt and keep him busy while we're at work.

Well, that's it for me today... I hope you guys love him as much as we do already! (It's only been 2 days)

It's that time again... finally!

Spring is here!

I realize it has been WAY TOO LONG since the last time I posted something.  I was out in the sunshine all day today raking leaves and collecting all of the stray branches that have fallen all over our property and I thought: "It's about time I started blogging again"... cause you know, working outside always makes me want to come inside and type... :)

All kidding aside, I got really excited to be outside in only a sweatshirt and jeans!  Such a great feeling to pack away the winter clothes for a few months and bring out the cute summer dresses and spring jackets/boots!

I'm having my friends over on Friday for a bonfire and it looks like the weather is going to be great!  We'll actually be able to enjoy being outside and see the stars (they are so beautiful outside the city)!

Well... hopefully I keep this up, it has been a really long time as I said...

Happy Spring Everyone!

The SarcMark!

Finally a way to let people know that you are being sarcastic in written text!

How many times have you been typing out a message to someone on MSN or even in an email and it was meant to be sarcastic and they didn't get it!

I was forwarded a pretty hilarious email the other day entitled "Random Thoughts of the Day" and one of the items was that there is a dire need for a sarcasm font. Luckily for whoever came up with this forward, THERE IS! (Well, not so much a font... but a symbol).

See the link below to the article I found:

SarcMark

Also... for your enjoyment... the original forward:

Random thoughts for the day

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap whenI was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told youhow the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind oftired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment atwork when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well..

20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

I hope you guys enjoyed it! So funny the first time I read it... and still funny when I read it now!

~Enjoy~
